Returns & Refund Policy

Last updated: 21 July 2026

At Ida Lombard Fine Art, every original artwork is created with great care and packaged to professional standards. We want you to purchase with confidence while recognising that original artwork is unique and cannot simply be replaced.

Please read the following policy carefully before making a purchase.

Original Artwork

Unless otherwise stated, every artwork offered for sale is an original, one-of-a-kind painting.

Because every original artwork is unique, all sales are considered final except in the circumstances described below.

Damaged Artwork

If your artwork arrives damaged during transit, please notify us within 48 hours of delivery.

Please include:

  • Your order number
  • Photographs of the damaged packaging
  • Photographs of the damaged artwork
  • A brief description of the damage

If shipping insurance was purchased, any claim for transit damage must be submitted to the shipping insurer in accordance with their claims process.

Uninsured shipments that are damaged during transit cannot be refunded by Ida Lombard Fine Art.

Returns

We do not accept returns due to:

  • Change of mind
  • Personal preference
  • Incorrect wall measurements
  • Colour variations caused by different computer or mobile screens
  • Buyer’s remorse

Please contact us before purchasing if you require additional photographs, close-up images or information about an artwork.

Commissioned Artwork

Commissioned and custom-created artworks are made specifically for you.

For this reason, commissioned artwork is non-refundable and non-returnable once work has commenced.

Certificate of Authenticity

Where a Certificate of Authenticity is included, it forms part of the artwork purchase.

If an approved return is authorised, the Certificate of Authenticity must be returned with the artwork.

Failure to return the certificate may affect eligibility for a refund.

Return Shipping

Where a return has been authorised in writing, the collector is responsible for:

  • Return shipping costs
  • Insurance during transit
  • Appropriate protective packaging

The artwork must be returned in either:

  • Its original packaging, or
  • Equivalent professional packaging that provides equal or better protection.

Returned artwork remains the responsibility of the collector until it has been safely received and inspected.

International Orders

Import duties, customs charges, VAT, local taxes and other government charges imposed by the destination country are the responsibility of the purchaser.

These charges are not refundable by Ida Lombard Fine Art.

Refunds

Where a refund has been approved, it will be processed using the original payment method used for the purchase.

Refunds are processed only after the returned artwork has been received and inspected.

Please allow up to 10 business days for inspection before the refund is finalised.

Depending on your financial institution, additional processing time may apply before funds appear in your account.

Condition of Returned Artwork

Any authorised return must be received in the same condition in which it was shipped.

Artwork showing damage, alterations, improper handling or inadequate packaging may not qualify for a refund.

Before Returning Any Artwork

Please do not return artwork without contacting us first.

We will provide:

  • Return instructions
  • Packaging guidance
  • Shipping requirements
  • Insurance recommendations
  • Return authorisation where applicable

This helps protect both you and the artwork during transit.

Our Commitment

We believe purchasing original artwork should be an enjoyable and confident experience.

If you have any questions before purchasing, we encourage you to contact us. We are happy to provide additional photographs, close-up detail images and further information to help you make an informed decision.
